death - "What Feels the Pain in Hell?"

By: Bawa Muhaiyaddeen

QUESTION: If you go to hell, what feels the pain if you don’t have your body?

BAWA MUHAIYADDEEN: My love you. That is a mystery. When you sleep you have dreams, do you not? Many people have dreams. In them, you observe people singing, embracing, kissing, rolling around, flying, and sitting. You see all that in dreams. While your body is lying on the bed sleeping, another body is experiencing the dreams. That body travels to different places. You have all had dreams. You have seen them. Was it your body that had those dreams? No. That other body inside this body experiences the dreams. The outer body remains unmoving, while the inner body moves about and does things to fulfill and satisfy the thoughts of your mind. It is this inner body that suffers in hell.

When the physical body dies, you have to give earth’s share back to the earth, fire’s share back to fire, air’s share back to air, water’s share back to water, and ether’s share back to ether. But the body within this physical body is the result of what your mind has created through your thoughts and desires. This is the body that goes to hell. The physical body is a house for you, but inside it is the second body, which you created with your evil thoughts. And there is yet another body—the body of the soul, the body of truth. This body is made from the qualities of God and your wisdom.

These three kinds of bodies do three different things. First is the physical body, which is a house God built for you out of earth. This body must be returned to earth and the elements. Second is the body made by your thoughts and your mind. This is what suffers in hell, and it is to this body that the questioning will come. Third is the body you prepare with your wisdom. If you fashion this body for the soul, the light of God will come there. This is the body that goes directly to God when you die. My love you.
