god articles - "Fix the Point of Man to the Point of God"

By: Bawa Muhaiyaddeen

Last night, I had a vision in which three or four of us were trying to connect one point to another point. If we didn't succeed in aligning them precisely at the exact moment required, the world and everything in it would be destroyed. Nothing would be left. This alignment had to be done in a fraction of a second, and done so precisely that if it were just a shade off in any direction, destruction would be upon us. It was a very difficult task, because while we were trying to push them together, there was nothing there to support these two points and keep them in place.

Everyone was shouting and shivering in fright. The whole world was trembling. I said, "All right. We must be patient. This is God's work," and I waited. The time was drawing near very, very swiftly—everything was either going to come together perfectly or vanish. Only an infinitesimal fraction of a second now lay between what would be survival or annihilation.

Then, suddenly, in a flash, one point switched over and connected to the other point. At once destruction was halted and everything began to move again. That was the end of the vision.

It's like this in our life. If the one whose job it is to keep these two points perfectly aligned were to laugh or look away or neglect His duty for even a fraction of a second, some kind of destruction would come.

One of these two points is divine luminous wisdom. (1) The other point is God's truth. The one who can align these points has to be God. No one else can do it. No matter how much a man may study, or how many things he learns about this world, about spiritual studies, mediations, religions, ways of worship, etc.—if he fails to connect his highest wisdom to the point of God's truth at exactly the moment it is needed, some kind of disaster will follow. But if he correctly aligns that point of wisdom, which exercises control over his life of darkness, his life of ignorance and false wisdom, his life of evil, his life of arrogance and karma, his demonic and satanic and ghost-like life, and his life as a beast and a dog, then all these things will be rendered lifeless and ineffective, and the disaster will be halted.

So many worlds are moving about within man at all times—the world of atomic lives and atomless lives, the world of the heart and the kingdom of God, kingdoms of illusion and kingdoms of darkness, oceans of illusion and oceans of wisdom, worlds of falsehood and worlds of truth, good and evil, justice and injustice, torpor and silence, desire and selfishness, wisdom and ignorance, racial and religious prejudices, and so many others. Whenever all these things roll up together into a thing that can destroy his world—a huge thing that is opening its gaping mouth to destroy his life—there is only one point that can control all this, and that is the point we are talking about, the point of divine luminous wisdom.

If, at that exact moment in time, man can fix that point of his wisdom to the point of God's truth, then the connection to his obsessions, his karma, his birth, and all these other things will be rendered lifeless. Whenever anything comes and tries to topple him—desires, thoughts, the problems of poverty or disease—at the very moment these disasters are coming at him and threatening to destroy him, if he can connect the point of his divine wisdom to the point of God's truth, without wavering, without the slightest deviation to one side or the other, then any turmoil or disaster that's looming will be stopped, and truth will be reinstalled. This can be accomplished only by the power of God. In His hands alone lies the power to connect these points to each other. Anyone who can do this must be man-God. (2) This is the explanation I was given about the connection between man and God.

So, whatever suffering comes to you, whatever issues confront you, whichever of your thoughts or desires or attachments threaten to destroy you, you must fix that point within you, the point of divine luminous wisdom to the point of God's truth. If these two points are not connected, all will be lost. Just press these two together at any moment of difficulty or distress. You need to do this even when you are experiencing the greatest happiness. Do it in moments of joy or sorrow, for both are only creations of the mind, and what the mind sees as joy at one moment, it will see as sorrow a split second later. That's how life is. These are the games of the five elements, the illusory tricks that crop up in our life—tricks of the body and tricks of the world. One moment you are brimming with desire, but a moment later, you're tired, collapsed, and suffering. This is just the way the body composed of the five elements functions. This is the way the hordes of illusion play their demonic games.

When all these things come piling up on top of each other to destroy your life, at that exact moment in time, you must connect your wisdom to God's power. To do this, you have to stay focused, you can't be distracted or looking around here and there. It's a wide, wide sea. You have to be giving all your attention to that exact point. This must be the focus of your life—as each situation arises, to fix your wisdom to some point of God's truth. Then what might have been an overwhelming disaster can be averted or halted, and you can proceed calmly on your way.

This is the work that God is doing. This is true wisdom. God is the only one who can, without the slightest hesitation or the slightest deviation, do this even before you can say, "Hmmm." It is very, very difficult, but any man who succeeds in doing it must be man-God. We need to know this.

This is what I was told. Now it was four a.m. and I opened my eyes. I was thinking about this. Then I informed the others, "This truth can be established within you!"

So, at any moment in time, whatever may assail you, just connect your wisdom to the power of God, to the point of God's truth, to His patience, tolerance, peacefulness, justice, honesty, serenity, faith, and certitude. If you make these firm within you right then and there, you can halt whatever trouble might come from the other side. It won't be able to crush you. There will be no disaster. Connecting these two points will be like applying the brakes on those potential disasters and saying, "Go back!" But if you fail to connect them in that split second of decision, then you will leave yourself open to whatever disaster comes to overwhelm you, and your life will be in shambles.

One of these points is wisdom, and the other is truth. Faith and certitude and determination are man's birthright. Claim your birthright. This is what you need to do. Conduct your lives in this manner.

This is a great wonder, indeed.

Footnotes:

1) There are seven levels of wisdom, or states of consciousness: feeling, awareness, intellect, assessment, subtle wisdom, divine analytic or discerning wisdom, and divine luminous wisdom.

All lives have the first three levels: feeling, awareness, and intellect. Using these three, when they are pricked they feel it and wriggle, and when something bites, they are aware of its location and know to brush it away. These three levels are present in animals, in snakes, in grass and weeds, and even in insects.

Human beings possess these three levels of consciousness, but they also possess four levels above and beyond these: assessment, subtle wisdom, divine analytic wisdom, and divine luminous wisdom. With these God has given the human being a connection to Him.

God's greatest gift to mankind is divine luminous wisdom, the wisdom that allows human beings to realize that they exist within God and God exists within them.

2) God has said, "I created man in My own image." But God has no form. Therefore we can only ascribe to Him the unseen form of His many good qualities, such as patience, tolerance, and compassion, and the absence of qualities such as selfishness, pride, arrogance, intolerance, anger, jealousy, treachery, hate, vengeance, finding fault with others, etc. Each time we remove one of these, it is replaced by a quality of God, and if we can complete the transformation, then we will have manifested the form of God's qualities within us. This is the state referred to as man-God, the state in which the form is human but the qualities and actions are divine.
