"Only if one stands directly under a tree will he experience the comfort and shelter of its shade. Like this, when the heat of illusion, of attachment to the elements, of desire, races, sects, and colors comes to burn you, if you are in the shade of the sheikh, you will find comfort and overcome the difficulty safely. Like the shade of a tree, the shade of the sheikh can give you peace. This peace is greater than the heat of the world. When you run from the heat, the sorrow, loss, and illusions of the world, if you can find such a tree and stand beneath it, you will have peace and comfort. This is why the sheikh exists." Muhaiyaddeen, M.R. Bawa. "Sheikh and Disciple." Philadelphia:Fellowship Press, 1983
